Budget friendly IKEA living room finds
If you love DIY chances are you love IKEA! I mean who doesn’t love IKEA?!
That’s like heaven on Earth for us DIY lovers and enthusiasts. There’re so many options for creativity and so many ways to hack IKEA furniture and decor finds.
When we bought our house we actually didn’t go to my favorite blue and yellow store and went to NFM instead. Now I wish we spent all that money at IKEA to furnish our house. Well after living in our house for a few years and having a baby, we needed a better solution for our living room, so to the IKEA we went! Finally!
The best IKEA customizable sectional
First thing that we needed to update was the couch. I knew right away what model I wanted, but it took 3 trips to the store to convince my husband. Luckily for me he agreed to give it a try and we purchased SÖDERHAMN sofa that we own till this day and still love it! In fact I’m writing this blog post sitting on my favorite chaise by the window.
IKEA SÖDERHAMN couch
If you’ve never heard of the SÖDERHAMN series please check it out next time you are at IKEA. It’s a modern looking sofa, low profile, customizable in terms of size and the best thing for those with little kids and pets is that all the covers are removable and washable!
When we first got it we were able to customize it using IKEA designer tool for this series: we got a sofa section, chaise and one sitter with 2 armrests. Just a standard L-shape sectional but a very long one.
It was a perfect spot for our daughter to learn how to walk. Now we have the best memories of our little one holding onto the couch and walking back and forth with a big smile.
Removable sofa covers
Years later we decided to change things up a bit and removed the one sitter section and changed the covers. So right now we have the sofa section and the chaise left in our living room both in beautiful green color(unfortunately this color has been discontinued).
Side table with storage
As I said earlier I love IKEA, so right next to our couch is the storage basket/end table where we store our blankets. It served us well over the years as a plush toy storage, side table and blanket holder.
Living room lighting
Another favorite thing that we cannot imagine our space without is that beautiful Klabb floor lamp! It’s been discontinued, but here’s their new version of this lamp. The best thing about it is that it’s dimmable and the light bulb from IKEA has that perfect warm white that gives a whole room a cozy vibe.
Elegant IKEA Curtains
Next thing is the window! I grew up in a house where every window was dressed up with beautiful curtains, so I love having drapes in my home now. It instantly helps the room to feel more homey and luxurious.
We have a 9 ft tall ceiling in our home, so these curtains from IKEA were a perfect match and didn’t need to be hemmed at all.
Versatile toy storage for living room
If you have kids chances are you have toys in your living room, so to make it more manageable and easy to clean up we have a few DRÖNA boxes for storage.
The perfect throw pillows
Last but not least throw pillows! I love these down filled inserts and changeable covers. I got a few of these so depending on the season or my mood I just swap these out for an easy and affordable decor change.
The best store for home decor – IKEA
I hope you like all these finds and give them a try! Maybe next time you’re on a hunt for something to hack at IKEA stop by their restaurant for a delicious cup of coffee and you might find me there too. Don’t forget to become a part of IKEA Family to receive the latest deals and a free hot drink when you shop at your local store.
Hugs,
Hanna
